FAQ

What are your yarns made of?

Our yarns are 100% wool. The fine yarns are a custom blend of Navajo Churro, hard luster wool and mohair, combed and blended in the UK and dyed in the USA. Our coarse yarns are spun of Navajo Churro and natural color Rambouillet wool.

What’s the difference between the yarn weights?

Fine (2/6 two-ply): tubes of just under 1/4 lb (100 g), about 370 yards.
.86 Coarse: a bulky single, 480 yards per pound; skeins of 1/4 lb (113 g), about 120 yards.
1.5 Coarse: an Aran-weight single, 840 yards per pound; skeins of 1/4 lb (113 g), about 210 yards.

How do I choose the right color?

The best way to compare colors is with real samples. Our color card sets ($25) show every color in either the fine yarns or the .86 and 1.5 coarse yarns.

Are your yarns only for rug restoration?

They were developed for restoring antique carpets, but they’re also a great choice for weaving, knitting, crochet and needlepoint.

Do you offer custom colors?

We maintain an inventory of undyed yarn and can offer custom colors in small quantities. Get in touch to discuss what you need.

How are the yarns dyed?

Our yarns are skein-dyed in the USA by a family business using acid-leveling dyes in small lots. We also occasionally offer small quantities dyed with natural dyestuffs such as madder, cochineal and indigo.

How much is shipping and how fast do you ship?

We ship within the US by USPS: $10 for 1–4 spools, $15 for 5–10 spools and $20 for 11 or more. Orders go out within 24 hours on business days.

Can I return yarn?

Yes. Wool can be returned within 14 days of delivery for a full refund of the price of the wool. See our refund policy for details.
